The Jackdaw is Blackbird Cigar Co.’s elegant, traditional take on the classic Connecticut shade profile. Representing the brightest end of the brand’s portfolio, it features a distinct cream-coloured band. This cigar is a blend approachable enough for a complete novice to smoke without getting dizzy, yet complex enough for a seasoned connoisseur to enjoy as a palate-cleanser. This cigar was engineered to be clean and sweet.
The backstory of the Jackdaw highlights founder Jonas Santana’s love for clever irony. In nature, a jackdaw is a member of the crow family, famous for its jet-black feathers. Jonas deliberately flipped this visual on its head, using the name of an inherently dark bird to represent the lightest, mildest cigar in his entire lineup. To achieve its perfect balance, Jonas utilized a unique Indonesian binder. This wrapper-binder combination dials back the natural bitterness of the shade leaf, allowing the rich, creamy core notes of sweet cedar, toasted almonds, vanilla bean, and light baking spices to take center stage.
